Martello tower
The Martello Tower resembles a huge sand castle. We can find her on the beach in Woodbridge (UK). It was built to protect the vulnerable coastal areas of Suffolk from Napoleon's expansionists. And since the beginning of the nineteenth century it has been rented out. Looking to spend a few days in a sand castle?
Old and new
It is the first of many military buildings that have been converted to accommodate tourists. The Martello Tower has four bedrooms, decorated in striking combinations of modern and antique designs.
The walls have been kept brick to remind of their original function, but the kitchen offers the latest technology with large windows with stunning ocean views. Additional services include parking, a pet permit and a stepless staircase (making the area more accessible to people with disabilities).
Differences from most resorts
The roof is one of the luxury items enjoyed by most customers as it offers a stunning 360 degree panorama of the area. The tower is usually rented for family celebrations, corporate events or leisure. The Lamdmark Trust Company, which is in charge of rentals, emphasizes that more and more customers want uniqueness and authentic experiences against the homogenization of mass tourism. People appreciate the building's unique acoustics, warm and human comfort, which has nothing to do with modernity. Here people also see the magical lights of fishing boats that go to sea at night.
Sister
There is another Martello Tower in the same area. Beware of confusion. The second has only two rooms and is known for its four-petal clover emblem. The central space is the most comfortable, but the kitchen is rather modest, as is the bathroom. The décor is also less sophisticated - Persian carpets, white walls and nautical interiors with high ceilings ... This is a more modest place, but charming nonetheless.
