Popular destinations in Australia

Australia is an amazing country with so many things to see and do. I have visited most of the bigger cities in Australia and have also been to some of its most popular destinations. Here are my best tips for visiting these places when you're traveling:

Adelaide

Adelaide
is a city with a rich cultural heritage and a thriving arts scene. The most popular tourist attractions in Adelaide include the Adelaide Zoo, the Art Gallery of South Australia and the National Railway Museum.

The city's main attractions include:

  • Botanic Gardens (south) - A large park containing many native plants and trees from around Australia as well as some exotic species too! It's also home to many animal species such as koalas, kangaroos and wallabies!
  • Rundle Mall (north) - This street has been voted one of Australia's top shopping destinations by Lonely Planet readers so expect plenty of shops here selling everything from clothes to souvenirs at reasonable prices!

Alice Springs

Alice Springs
is the second largest town in the Northern Territory, and it has long been a popular destination for tourists. The town is known for its red sand dunes and bush tucker (native cuisine), which you can sample at any number of excellent restaurants or cafes. If you're looking for some great food, look no further than these places:

  • The Alice Springs Chicken Shop--This fast-food place serves up delicious fried chicken sandwiches along with fries and sodas. It's open 24/7 so you'll never miss out on a meal!
  • Aussie Pie Shoppe--If you love meat pies as much as I do then this is definitely your place! Their Aussie-style pies come in several different varieties including beef & gravy; lamb & mint jelly; kangaroo & tomato sauce...you get the idea :) They also have many other options including soups & salads if that's more your style!

Brisbane

Brisbane
is a city in the Australian state of Queensland. It is located on the Brisbane River, south of the state capital, Brisbane is Australia's third largest city and one of its fastest growing. The city has been nicknamed "Brisvegas", which is an affectionate term given to it by locals due to its reputation as a party town with many casinos and other entertainment venues such as cinemas, bars and nightclubs.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay
is a beachside town in the far north of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 690 kilometres north of Sydney and about 100 kilometres south of Ballina. The town takes its name from Captain William Byron who was shipwrecked near here in 1824 while transporting convicts to Tasmania.

Cairns

Cairns is a tropical paradise, and it's the perfect place to visit if you want to get away from the crowds. It's got beautiful beaches and rainforests, as well as some of the best diving in Australia. The Great Barrier Reef has been named one of seven natural wonders of the world by National Geographic. If you've ever wanted to see this amazing phenomenon up close, then Cairns is definitely where you should go!

Canberra

Canberra is the capital city of Australia, located in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, who also designed Chicago and Washington D.C. The city has many historic sites including Parliament House, High Court of Australia and Australian War Memorial.

Sydney

Sydney
is the capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. It is located on Australia's south-east coast, on a peninsula between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Sydney is Australia's largest and most cosmopolitan city, with an estimated population of 5 million people (2018). The area surrounding Sydney Harbour is particularly famous for its natural beauty, including Bondi Beach, which attracts thousands of visitors each year; Manly Beach; The Rocks district; Darling Harbour; Cockatoo Island Harbourside Festival Marketplace & Barangaroo Reserve - these are all top destinations to visit while you're here!

The metropolis is located on the large natural bay known as Port Phillip Bay with its adjoining strait named Bass Strait separating it from mainland Australia; together they form an arm of the Tasman Sea.

Melbourne has been ranked among the top cities in the world for quality of life and health care; it is considered to be one of Asia Pacific's leading financial hubs with more than 30 percent of Australian companies headquartered there.

Perth

Perth
is the capital of Western Australia and known as the "City of Lights" because of its nightlife. It's home to many beautiful beaches, including Cottesloe Beach, which is often ranked as one of the best beaches in Australia. Perth has a great climate with warm summers and cool winters.

Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is known for its beaches, nightlife, and tourist attractions. The weather can get hot in summer and cool in winter. The food is Australian style with lots of seafood options like fish and chips or seafood pasta!
