Most famous places in Cyprus

Cyprus is an island nation in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, off the coasts of Egypt, Israel, and Turkey. It's home to a variety of landscapes—from beaches to forests to mountains—and has historically been known as a haven for tourists seeking warm weather and sandy beaches.

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is a Cypriot resort town in the Famagusta District of Cyprus, located on the east coast of the island. Ayia Napa has a population of around 20,000 people.

It has become famous for its nightlife and beaches since the late 1980s when it was discovered by British tourists as an alternative to Ibiza and other party destinations such as Kavos (Corfu), Magaluf (Majorca) and Malia (Crete) - all being too expensive for most young people who wanted to have fun but not spend their life savings doing so!

Famagusta

Famagusta is a city in the east of Cyprus. It's one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island due to its beautiful beaches and historical sites. In Famagusta, you will find many restaurants, cafes and bars where you can enjoy traditional Cypriot cuisine or international dishes at affordable prices.

You can also visit the old city of Famagusta, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are looking for nightlife, then head to the beachfront promenade where you will find many bars and clubs.

It has been inhabited since the early Byzantine period and was known as Kakopetra until the 13th century A.D., when it became part of the Kingdom of Cyprus under Richard I (Richard Coeur de Lion). The village grew around its monastery dedicated to Panagia Kakopetria (Virgin Mary), which was established by monks from Mount Athos in 1191 AD during the Lusignan period. The monastery contains many treasures including frescoes dating back to its founding.

Kyrenia

Kyrenia is the northernmost town in Cyprus, located on the northern coast. It's known for its historical significance and beautiful geography.

Kyrenia is situated near Mount Olympus (see photo above), which reaches a height of 1,952 meters (6,398 feet). The mountain has been declared a national park because of its natural beauty and wildlife habitats that include deer, wild boar and rabbits as well as numerous types of butterflies including swallowtail butterflies with blue wings or red spots on their wings depending on their gender!

The climate here is Mediterranean: hot summers with temperatures averaging 27 degrees Celsius (81 Fahrenheit) during the day; mild winters with average lows around 11 degrees Celsius (52 Fahrenheit). Rainfall occurs mostly during winter months but can also be heavy during summer storms so pack an umbrella if you plan to visit then!
