Northern kingdom of waterfalls

Sometimes, how much we do not know about our native country. Meanwhile, in its vast expanses, such amazing and truly unique places are hidden that sometimes it takes your breath away from their virgin beauty.

One of these places is the unexplored expanses of North-Western Siberia.

Two amazingly powerful rivers flow there - the Lena and the Yenisei, carrying their modes to the Arctic Ocean. Here, in the cold and harsh expanses, you will not find either high mountains or green forests, but nevertheless their beauty fascinates. Here, a large river called the Lower Tunguska originates in the Lena. To the west of it, there is a gradual increase in heights, turning into an area of extraordinary beauty called the Putorana Plateau.

Here is the highest point of the Central Siberian Plateau, Mount Kamen, 1701 meters high.

The unusual ground surface resembles a domed, slightly sloping table top. Often deceptively flat terrain drops abruptly down in steep steps. Rivers and expanses of lakes sparkle in the abyss. Rivers from the center of the plateau scatter like snakes in different directions. They have a lot of rough rapids, sharp bends and sharp turns. So, for example, the Kureika River changes its direction of flow three times.

The Putorana Plateau can be called a real fairy-tale kingdom of waterfalls, which are found on almost every river, both small and larger.

Numerous lakes of the region are also unique, intricately woven into the river network. There are also very large, real seas with a mirror surface in which mountains are reflected.

Most of the mountains are covered with forests, mainly spruce and larches. On the plateau, you can enjoy delicious, environmentally friendly northern berries containing thousands of various useful vitamins.

Despite the rather low winter temperatures, in summer the air on the plateau can warm up to 30 degrees above zero. Although, of course, this is a rather cold and harsh region, striking precisely with its untouched beauty. The ice on the lakes does not melt for a long time, and the high peaks are always covered with a cap of snow sparkling in the sun.

Even in the warm season, you will rarely meet tourists on its vast areas, perhaps the most courageous daredevils. Many parts of the region can only be reached by helicopter. But, despite this, the Putorana Plateau continues to lure desperate adventurers not only with the expanse of Russia, but also from all over the world.
