A short travel guide for Barbados

It has a tropical climate and a population of about 280,000 people. Barbados was discovered by Europeans in 1536, but it wasn't colonized until 1625 by English settlers who were fleeing religious persecution on other islands (such as Bermuda). The name "Barbados" comes from an Arawak word meaning "land of hills."

Barbados is a beautiful island with amazing food and beaches. It's also very safe, making it an ideal destination for both tourists and locals alike. The country is quite comfortable for travelling on a rented car. The island has many good places to eat out and have some fun at night. Some locals will try to scam you if they think you're a tourist, so beware when you're not sure about something. To stay safe you can take a guided trip with a local experienced guide. If you visit Barbados, here are some things that we recommend:

The seafood is amazing and fresh

You can get fresh seafood at the fish market, and there are many restaurants that serve it as well. One of favorite ways to eat seafood is with rice and peas--it's a traditional dish made with coconut milk and green peppers or scotch bonnet peppers. It's delicious!

There are no snakes or scorpions on the island

There are no snakes or scorpions on the island. The only poisonous animal is the centipede, which can grow up to six inches long and has 30 legs! Although they're not dangerous and you can easily avoid them if you know what they look like (they have orange-yellow bands on their backs), it's still best not to get too close.

The beaches are stunning, but you should be careful while walking on them

While the beaches are public property, there are some things to keep in mind.

  • Don't litter or leave your garbage behind. If you've brought food with you, make sure to dispose of it properly when finished.
  • Don't pick up shells or coral from the beach--this can damage their ecosystem and hurt other animals as well!
  • Don't touch sea turtles or other animals (like fish), even if they look friendly! They're not pets for humans to play with and may bite if startled by an unfamiliar hand reaching towards them out of nowhere...plus there's always a chance that touching these creatures could be dangerous for both parties involved if one gets sick from something like bacteria on its skin (which is likely since these creatures live underwater). Also don't feed any fish unless specifically told by staff at your hotel/resort; most places discourage feeding because it causes overpopulation within their ecosystem which leads into more problems down the road like overcrowding due lack enough food sources available nearby locations where tourists go swimming every day during high season periods when everyone wants access so bad but only one person actually gets lucky enough win lottery tickets first few days before second ones come out later next week after holidays end when everyone comes back home again so we hope this helps explain why people shouldn't feed anything else besides yourself because it might lead us into bigger problems down future lineups.

There are many good places to eat out and have some fun at night

Barbados is a great place to eat out and have some fun at night. Some of the best places to eat out include:

  • The Fish Pot, St Lawrence Gap
  • Zucca Ristorante Italiano, Bridgetown
  • The Cliff Restaurant, Bathsheba

Some locals will try to scam you if they think you're a tourist, so beware when you're not sure about something

While you're in Barbados, it's important to remember that locals can be very friendly and helpful. However, there are some things about the island that may come as a shock to tourists. If someone approaches you on the street or at the beach and asks for money or food, don't give them anything! They will keep asking until they get what they want from you--so just walk away from these people as quickly as possible.

If someone says they work at a hotel and offers to drive you somewhere else on the island (or even back home), don't do it! In most cases this person has been hired by another guest at another hotel who wants help getting around without having to pay for transportation himself/herself (or maybe even both). Either way--it won't save money in any way shape or form because these drivers charge whatever price they think their customers will pay without caring whether it's fair or not! It's better just sticking with public transportation like buses instead anyway since it's cheaper than paying someone else's inflated prices just because "they know where everything is located" when really all those places are within walking distance anyways."

Barbados is a beautiful island with great food and beaches

Barbados is a beautiful island with great food, beaches, wildlife and culture. The island has many historical sites to explore and it's also home to some of the best rum in the world!

Barbados was discovered by Portuguese sailors in 1536 but it wasn't until 1627 when English settlers arrived that Barbados became what we know today. They started growing sugarcane on land granted them by King Charles II who ruled England at that time. It wasn't long before other countries like France and Spain wanted their own share too so they fought over control of this new land until 1654 when England won again (but not for long).

The Best Beaches in Barbados

The best beaches in Barbados are:

  • Hastings Beach - This is the beach for swimming and snorkeling, and it's also one of the most popular beaches on the island. There are a few restaurants nearby if you need to grab lunch or an afternoon snack, but otherwise it's a quiet spot with plenty of room to relax under palm trees.
  • Carlisle Bay - This is another great spot for swimming and snorkeling, but it's also home to some excellent hotels if you want somewhere nicer than just sand between your toes! If you don't have time for an overnight stay here (or if there aren't any rooms available), consider stopping by after work as part of an evening stroll through Bridgetown before heading back home again--it'll be worth every minute spent admiring this stunning waterway from afar!

The Best Hotels in Barbados

The best hotels are in the west coast, which is more expensive than the east coast. The west coast has a better beach and food, as well as being more romantic and having a better nightlife.

Favourite Things to Do in Barbados

The beach is the main attraction for most tourists in Barbados. There are many beaches to choose from, but there are several that stand out as the most popular. All-inclusive resorts such as Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa and The Club at Carlton Beach offer excellent amenities including swim-up bars and restaurants on site, but if you're looking for something more low key try Golden Mile or Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Beach (where Nelson Mandela once visited).

For those who want an adventure off shore there are plenty of options including snorkeling tours with Captain Hook's Watersports Centre or boat trips with Barbados Underwater Exploration Society (BUES). If you'd rather stay dry then try ziplining through some caves near Black Rock Forest Reserve or hiking across Harrison's Cave Park where you can go underground into a natural limestone cave system named after its founder Edward Harrison who discovered it back in 1775 while hunting goats!

Nightlife in Barbados

Barbados is known for its nightlife. The island is home to some of the best bars and clubs in the Caribbean, so if you're looking for a good time, you've come to the right place!

The best part about Barbados' nightlife is that it doesn't get too crazy like Jamaica's does. You won't find people getting drunk at 3 am and stumbling around town--they'll stay at their hotel until they feel ready to go out again (which usually isn't until about 8 pm). Also, there aren't as many drugs here as there are in other islands' parties, so if drugs aren't your thing or you have children with you who might be exposed to them accidentally, this could be another reason why Barbados may not be your favorite destination during nighttime hours.

Barbados is a beautiful island with great food and beaches. It's also a great place to visit if you want some fun at night. If you're planning on going there soon, make sure that you have enough money for everything because it can get expensive quickly!
