What to see in Copenhagen - Top 7 most interesting sights

Copenhagen can definitely be called one of the most beautiful European cities. Here, modern architecture harmoniously looks together with old buildings, and a large number of canals and bridges turn the capital of Denmark into a northern analogue of Venice.

Interesting places in Copenhagen

1. The new harbor is the hallmark of the city and at the same time one of the coziest and most popular areas. Here, on both sides of the canal, there are small multi-colored houses that seem to have descended from the pages of Andersen's fairy tales. Old wooden ships and houseboats slowly sway on the waves of the canal. Many tourists, coming to this place, also want to see with their own eyes the bronze statue of the Little Mermaid, which has become a national symbol not only of Copenhagen, but of all of Denmark.

2. Amalienborg Palace is another famous attraction in the capital of Denmark. This complex was also the residence of the royal family. Now the palace houses a museum (by the way, it was built in honor of Queen Sofia), and one of its buildings still hosts holidays and important meetings. At 12:00 there is a changing of the guard, which looks a bit theatrical.

3. City Hall in Copenhagen is a place worth visiting for every tourist. Its top in the form of a tower with a spire is one of the highest points in the city. To look at the mesmerizing city view from the observation deck of the town hall, you need to climb up the spiral staircase of 300 steps. But none of the tourists have yet regretted this difficult ascent, having seen such a dizzying sight. And the tower clock shows, in addition to time, the date, the lunar calendar and important Christian holidays.

4. Tivoli Gardens theme park is one of the largest parks in Scandinavia, where even adults can remember their childhood and feel like a child. It was founded in 1843. Here you can see many attractions, flower gardens, interesting palaces and fountains, and on holidays, various performances and competitions on certain topics are held in the park.

5. The Round Tower is another famous observation deck from which you can see the views of Copenhagen in all its glory. This name was given to an old astronomical observatory 35 meters high, built about 400 years ago. Another feature of the Round Tower is that there are no steps at all inside it - you can go upstairs using a spiral road.

6. The National Museum of Denmark is an impressive collection of historical and cultural exhibits from various eras - from the Viking Age to the Renaissance. Here you can see with your own eyes ancient coins, weapons, as well as household items and church utensils. Also, in addition to permanent exhibitions, the National Museum has the opportunity to visit traveling exhibitions.

7. Frederik's Church is one of the most beautiful places in the capital of Denmark. It is also known under another name - the Marble Church. Marble and limestone were used in its construction, and the top is crowned with a dome, which is supported by 12 columns. The walls of the church are decorated with bas-reliefs and sculptures, and stained-glass windows create a beautiful play of colors on the floor inside.
