The Belvedere Palace and Park Complex in Vienna is a real splendor that has survived to our time

While in Vienna, be sure to visit the Belvedere Palace and Park Complex, which really offers a "beautiful view", which means belveder in Italian.

The large-scale complex with the magnificent Upper and Lower palaces, fantastic fountains, many sculptures, a park and gardens delights with its architecture, masterfully designed exterior.

It is interesting to walk on the territory of the complex with a guide who will tell you about the history of the creation and existence of the Belvedere, about the National Austrian Gallery of Paintings in the Upper Palace, which includes famous works, masterpieces of painting by German and Austrian artists.

Here you can see paintings from many eras, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. And in the Lower Palace of the Belvedere, temporary exhibitions of paintings are located, various celebrations are often held. It is also nice to walk in the park without any excursion, sit on one of the many benches to enjoy the contemplation of the beautiful palace architecture, fountains with magnificent sculptural compositions.

The Belvedere complex was created at the beginning of the 18th century by the Austrian architect-engineer Luka von Hildebrandt by order of the then famous Austrian commander with the title of Prince Eugene of Savoy.

The architect used the traditional features of the baroque style in the construction of the Upper and Lower Palaces, where straight lines of facades and rich ornamental decorations are acceptable. The palace complex was conceived as the residence of the prince and Hildebrandt embodied the idea of the greatness and military glory of the commander in the project.

Indeed, the ensemble of palaces, parks, fountains is similar to the French Versailles. Members of the family of the French monarch, who fled from the anger of the people in the revolution of 1789, found shelter here.

After the death of the prince, the Belvedere was bought by the crowned Maria Theresa. It is noteworthy that in our time, namely in May 1955, the Declaration of Independence of Austria was signed in the Upper Belvedere.

Be sure to walk the kilometer-long Belvedere Park, which was conceived and implemented as a typical French park of symmetrical appearance, with several levels of terraces. The park has well-planned gardens with trees, hedges, flower arrangements, lawns, sculptures, fountains, cascades.

The flora of the park makes up a whole alpine ecosystem, where more than 4000 plant species are used. In the central part of the park area, there is the main cascade fountain, where a wonderful composition with mythological figures has been created.

Sculptures of nymphs, tritons and phoenixes with female faces adorn the park, the fountains of the complex, adding even more charm and aristocracy to it. It is noteworthy that the daughters of wealthy families of aristocrats of Vienna posed for the creation of sculptures in the park and fountains, considering it an honor to be imprinted for centuries in the marble masterpieces of the Belvedere.

It's nice that visits and walks in the Belvedere park complex are free, giving anyone the opportunity to see and enjoy its splendor.
