Coconut Island

Coconut Island attracts not only pirates, but also natural treasures. Coconut Island, Isla del Coco in Spanish, is famous all over the world for several different reasons. According to historical sources, this Costa Rican island was once a hiding place for pirates, and the creators of Jurassic Park chose it for several scenes in the film due to its untouched and wild nature.

Anyone who comes to the island in search of lost treasures or magical nature must obtain permission to do so. This is a strictly protected national park.
The island is home to many unique plant and insect species.

Located in the Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica's Cocos Island attracts treasure hunters looking for pirate treasure, which is said to include a life-size gold statue of the Virgin Mary. But there is one big snag in the search for treasure. It is generally forbidden to dig on the island. Due to its unique wildlife, Isla del Coco has been declared a National Park of Costa Rica.

The area is not recognized as permanently inhabited, only park rangers who accompany tourists live here. It has several freshwater waterfalls, as well as a variety of fauna and flora. The surrounding sea waters are especially famous among scientists for the topography, underwater life, vegetation, including various types of sharks, dolphins and fish.

Due to its special geographical position, up to 70 endemic plant species and over 60 unique insect species grow on the island.

The island, discovered in 1526, has a specific microclimate that is different from all other formations in the area, which is why it is so popular and unique.
In 1997, Isla del Coco was listed as a natural monument and even nominated as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. This is a paradise not only for visitors, but also for screenwriters, artists, nature lovers.

Anyone who wants to get on it must take a 36-hour ocean cruise and have permission from the park rangers. However, a visit to this unique rainforest island is definitely worth it.

In general, not only Cocos Island, but the whole of Costa Rica is a real paradise in Central America. How is it so different from its neighbors and, perhaps, from all similar destinations? There are no stray dogs running around here, no rubbish is lying around, air conditioners work in the buses, people move in them in an organized way, as in Europe. There are bus stations, garbage is sorted.

Costa Rica is great for vacationers. One of the reasons is that this country is stylish, people and government care about natural resources, people are richer, more educated and more inquisitive. The second reason why crowds of tourists flock here is clear from the first - this is nature. Approximately 1/3 of the country's territory is under one or another nature protection.

The third reason is that Costa Ricans are not stupid and promote tourism in every possible way. Before entering each national park, you can have a bite to eat in a restaurant, and every major beach has sun lounger rentals.

Wherever you go, you will be surrounded by picturesque corners, clean water sources, lots of greenery and tranquility. In a word, Cocos Island and Costa Rica in general will fulfill all your wishes regarding the inspection of the territory, entertainment and refreshments.
